Bye Bye September Smile Photography

I've been in Baltimore for almost a month now. And I've failed to update here to say goodbye to September Smile Photography. I've changed my name and my site and pretty much everything that goes along with it. If you are still interested in keeping up with me you can do so here. It's been my pleasure working with all of you in Austin.

Birth Photography

I was asked to photograph a birth a few weeks ago. (We are still in Austin) Actually, it was more like I asked if I could photograph the birth. It's been something that I've been CRAZY wanting to do since I had Alice. When I was pregnant with Jacob I NEVER thought about it. Birth photography? I didn't even know there was a market for newborn photography let alone birth photography. I didn't even have a good digital camera back then and film was slowly going away. I don't even have those ugly hospital photos of Jacob. You know, the ones on that ugly generic blanket from when we were babies?? (If you were born in the 80's you know what I am talking about ;) ) I do have some of Owen in the room AFTER he was born and I have some of Alice that are all out of focus. My husband can't take an in focus photo on full auto! And Dean's whole process was "interesting" so once again I have nothing of him even in the hospital :(

So if I don't have anything and I'm a photographer then why would you want a birth photographer? Because it's the most amazing, beautiful, emotional, wonderful, pure, real, sweet, I could go on experience ever. It's such a personal experience, such a very RAW (pun intended) experience that I think is not celebrated enough. And it's all over. Just like that.

I really wish and I'm so mad at myself that I don't have any of these types of photos of my own children. There is nothing like holding your baby in your arms for the very first time. That feeling.. I can't even really remember what it was like.

My recent birth doesn't really either. She said it was all over so fast. But she was very thankful that I was there to get it all for her. While she was doing the after birth doings I was happy snapping away at the little things the nurses do afterwards, daddy doting on his new son,  the baby just laying there turning from that gray-white color to his normal color. Everyone was so inviting and so welcoming and the nurse even told me that she loves it when the babies put their feet on the sides of the little warming tray they are put in (sorry mom and dad for so many of those, I just love baby toes and couldn't pick the best one). And watching the dad be so loving, supportive and just "taking all the hormone anger", lol. I know that when I had Alice I wanted to judo chop my husband's you know what off.

Moms just often think, "Oh I will just have my husband take the photos and they will be good enough". You want the father or support person to be there for your moral support. They do not need to worry about taking photographs. Let them enjoy this experience with you. For some it is a once in a lifetime type of event. And no two births are the same (I know, I have four and they were all very different). And you want photos of dad during all of it. "Where was dad when I was born"? LOL Just sit back, relax if you can and let me get it all for you. I might even sneak you in a burger for afterwards :)

Here are just a couple of my favorite photos from that very exciting time. Enjoy!

Lifestyle Newborn Photography {Still In Austin Ya'll}

With our upcoming move I've neglected to update my work on here. But I've got a couple of really awesome sessions to blog about. Here's a gorgeous one in their home.

Erin wanted a super low key lifestyle session. They didn't know what they were having. She did an amazing job on decorating this nursery. I had so much fun just hanging out and chatting with both of them. We didn't have to rush on this one as it was just a simple one of me just hanging out and doing what she normally does with her little one. I got so many smiles from her. And later on we knew why when she did a potty right as mommy pulled the diaper back. Such is the life! Enjoy!

I'm Going, Going Back Back To...

BAWLMER HUN!!! Hahahaha! I had that song stuck in my head for days when we got the official word that we are indeed moving back to Baltimore. And. I. Couldn't. Be. Freaking. Happier!

The last time I was home Owen was only 5 months old and he's 5 years old now. I really like Austin but the weather doesn't like us and neither do the bugs. I've had a nightmare of a time with the bugs. Everything IS bigger in Texas. I will miss you Austin since you've given me the most amazing clients but I am now a Baltimore newborn photographer!!

"Charles Street, steamed crabs, Inner Harbor, Fort McHenry,
Skipjacks, Pimlico, houses all in a row.
Fallsway, Fells Point, Oriole Magic, Domino, McCormick.
Lovin' it all, havin' a ball, in Baltimore."

My 4shared and Mediafire Accounts

I track all keywords that lead people to my website. I track them because I want to know what words people use to find me. Lately I've noticed that people are using the keywords 4shared, mediafire and  my email address to find me. I had my 4shared files public, I didn't realize they were public. When I got 7 messages in a row thanking me for allowing people to download stuff that I purchased I put it on lock down. My 4shared files are MY files, not yours. I use 4shared as a storage. Stop trying to access my files. If you want stuff, buy it yourself and stop stealing from me. Yes, I am talking to you in Dunn, North Carolina. My mediashare files are my RAW files of my clients. Not actions, not templates, not goodies for you.

Well hello! Gorgeous

Sorry for bombing this post with all the goodies but I just LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVED this session. This little beauty had the best head of hair and really was such a dream to work with. I traveled to Pflugerville for these as I normally do, I travel to your home for your comfort and this session went pretty smooth. She did what all babies do, poop and pee all over me at the beginning to say hello and to let me know who is boss. Once she got that out we were all good to go. You are beautiful Emerie!
